Priming tree cookie slices while the rain falls and the happy tunes play!

Creating Capitol Tree Ornaments with SOTF and USFS

The Art Barn celebrates the completion of our contribution to the making of ornaments for this year’s Capitol Christmas tree, also known as The People’s tree. More importantly, we celebrate and offer thanks for the countless moments of pure joy offered by the experience.

Nevada Sisters on the Fly celebrate our Public Lands and the places we call Home in Nevada

When we first learned that our very own Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Nevada, had been selected for the very first time to provide this year’s Capitol Christmas Tree, we knew it was a very big deal. While it is a matter of pride, it also was an opportunity to connect and engage in community creativity circles and do what we do best….play!

Each ornament incorporates a turquoise nugget, mined out of Goldfield, Nevada. Special thanks to BLACKFISH SILVER in Goldfield for generously sharing a piece of our gem and mining culture out of Goldfield.

Whether priming 100’s of tree cookie slices alone or inviting the Nevada Sisters on the Fly over for some messy collage and snacks, it was joyful to just set the table and let creativity have it’s way, and maybe even invite a few donkeys out to play!

Ya gotta love our Nevada donkeys.

We look forward to seeing our tree hit the Capitol lawn this holiday and know we were able and willing to work with what we had and do what we could, with joy and gratitude…and just a little bit of pride.

Home means Nevada.
